Our history
In 2010, the year of the World Cup in South Africa, South African-born Bernd Steinhage, now founder and managing director of Afrika24 Reisen, decided to launch the Young Bafana Soccer Academy.
Since then, the NGO has been using soccer and education to help disadvantaged young people from the country's townships (poor districts).
Starting with 8 players and a simple idea, the academy has now grown to over 150 players, who are trained under the guidance of an international team and taught by their own instructors.

In 2015, the second founder of Afrika24 Reisen, Lennard Wohner, became aware of the academy - having started out as a volunteer, the German native is now co-director of Young Bafana.
The vision of the two adventurous friends and outdoor enthusiasts: to successfully expand Afrika24 Reisen as a company in the long term in order to sustainably strengthen the Young Bafana Academy and to share in its success (e.g. through sports trips).
For all guests we welcome to the Cape Town region, we offer the opportunity to get to know the academy and the home of the associated players as part of an impressive township tour. Our love of the country and its people coupled with our cosmopolitan nature and the ambition to constantly develop our expertise for our guests. Our service is designed to always put the guest first. We have a wide international network in the tourism industry and attach great importance to individual travel planning and the appropriate selection of tour guides. No package tours, no package deals. Everything is individual and tailor-made. We are always available.
Social commitment
Anyone who becomes our guest automatically makes a positive contribution to socially disadvantaged young people in South Africa.
A total of 3% of the profits from each tour go to our partner NGO, the Young Bafana Soccer Academy*.
